Open Source Important Features

Open Source – Shared Codes!! Shared Efforts!!

Open Source term was coined in 1998 but it started in early 1950s as a community collaborative force. Open source says free access to the source code as well as free re-distribution of code. Source code evolution is welcome in open source community. To make the modification of the source code easy, so access to un-obfuscated source code is required; to get the reproduction and distribution simplified modification may be made to compiled form.

Open source is rapidly evolving as open source developers and programmers are able to freely use, able to do experiment and further redistribute after modification. Distribution of modified open source software is allowed under the license of the original software.

Integrity of the author's source code is another important feature of Open Source. This includes distribution of patch files with source code at the build time for program modification.
All persons are equally eligible to contribute to open sources.

Open source
is free to be used in any field of work commercially.

Distribution License remains the same, no addition License required for re-distribution.

Software distribution rights and program rights as defined in program's license remains same for all.

The licensed software must not place restriction on other software distributed along with. Other programs distributed on the same medium must not be open-source software. Distributors of open-source software have the right to make their own choices about their own software.

For open source software product reuse license must be technology-neutral so that there is no conflict over software distribution.
